Then I add the drums and guitars and VSTs and we create the song in this way. I then download that bundle file and save it as a new song. He uploads this as a Cakwewalk bundle file to our cloud storage solution. The way my band is doing tracks right now is the song-writer creates a new file and does the basic demo track and layout framing (tempo, markers, scratch vocals, etc.). SONAR was amazing and Bandlab's Cakewalk has kept that going. You can do anything in this you would normally imagine doing in something like ProTools, minus some customization layout and what not. This software picks up where the old SONAR left-off. You will install it and be able to use your own VST plugins and other typical DAW stuff.

I'm positive in time, this technology will grow but for now, Cakewalk is what my band uses.Ĭakewalk is a fully-stacked DAW that you run on your computer's OS. The mixing and plugin abilities are quite limited (as they are all in the cloud) and I would probably only use this to exchange ideas.

In my experience, this was fun but not very effective in creating professional recordings. This is cool because you can use it to record music with people on the internet or your bandmates in distant locations. Ok so the Bandlab app is a cloud-based interface that allows you to use your browser to create a multi-track recording.
